📍Things to do

Truckee is an amazing hub that is a gateway to delicious restaurants, world class skiing / snowboarding resorts (Squaw Valley 1960 Winter Olympics) and scenic hikes and trails. Below are some of our favorite spots to check out based on distance from the house (on a regular day).

  • Here are a few places we really like that might be interesting!

    • • • • •

    📍Truckee Area

Coffee Bar: Amazing place to get coffee or a bite to eat.

Squeeze In: A true hole in the wall experience for a hearty breakfast or lunch.

Great Gold: A modern American / Italian kitchen with a nice ambiance after a long day out and about. This is also the closest restaurant and just as walk away in the summer.

Old Town Tap: Warm, rustic-industrial joint serving Italian fare plus pies, cocktails, craft brews & on-tap wine.

    • • • • •

    📍Northstar Resort

Rubicon Pizza Company: After a long (or short) day on the slopes or trails, this is a great Pizza place to unwind and grab some drinks.

Zephr Lodge: Located mid mountain — this is a great spot for grabbing lunch if doing a full day on the slopes. Epic Pass holders also get a discount here when dining.

  • Note that terrain difficulty ratings were taken from Snowpak, and could change based on updates to the locations.

  • ⏱24m | Commons Beach

⭐️⭐️⭐️ – This is a small beach (relatively speaking) with a fun kids play area (play set + rock climbing wall). If you want a place to hit the beach and also grab food from on shore restaurants can’t go wrong with Commons Beach. You can find parking right on the beach, and take the stairs up from the walking path to explore Tahoe City as well.

    • • • • •

    ⏱32m | Hidden Beach 💎

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – This is a stunning beach on the Nevada side that has crystal clear turquoise water. Best way to get here is to find (paid) parking by Tunnel Creek Cafe and taking the well paved asphalt trail all the way to the beach. The trail continues further beyond the beach but this is a great stop point for a quick dip in the water!

  • Alltrails is a great resource for finding general hikes around the Tahoe area. Below are some of our favorites!

Shirley Canyon Trail: This one starts out at Palisades Tahoe, and winds up beautiful waterfalls and mountain side to reach the lake. You can turn back at this point or hike another 800ft or so to reach High Camp where you can take the Aerial Tram all the way down! Note that the trail from Shirley Lake to High Camp isn’t well marked, but should take an additional 30m.

    Rubicon Trail

    Monkey Rock

Tahoe Rim Trail: This one technically goes around the entire lake but it can be done in segments. Our favorite starting point is in Tahoe City by

  • Summer is a wonderful time for some water fun in the lake. There are lots of activities that are available and below are some ideas / helpful links to get started. Note that these are just general guidelines — refer to the specific operator website for details / pricing info.
